Mexico City Legalizes Personal Drug Usage...WOW

Wow! First Mexico City legalized Abortion and now Drugs. Did Obama's visit to Mexico have anything to do with this? You have to wonder about this decision coming on the heals of such a momentous occasion as the meeting of the Presidents of Canada Mexico and USA, earlier this month in Guadalajara. This is quite a different approach to the 'War on Drugs' we've heard so much about.

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico decriminalized small amounts of marijuana, cocaine and heroin on Friday—a move that prosecutors say makes sense even in the midst of the government's grueling battle against drug traffickers.

Prosecutors said the new law sets clear limits that keep Mexico's corruption-prone police from extorting casual users and offers addicts free treatment to keep growing domestic drug use in check.

"This is not legalization, this is regulating the issue and giving citizens greater legal certainty," said Bernardo Espino del Castillo of the attorney general's office.

The new law sets out maximum "personal use" amounts for drugs, also including LSD and methamphetamine. People detained with those quantities no longer face criminal prosecution.

Arrested For Going To Church?

Are we missing the forest for the trees here?
Below is an article which demonstrates the hypocrisy of much of the Christianity in this country.
Who needs 'church' more than anyone else? This of course is a rhetorical question, because as Jesus pointed out, it is the sick person who needs the doctor. The person in the article below may possibly need God more than many others. Who are we to deny him that? I am not saying that child molesters should not be supervised, but they should be allowed to worship at church.

Arrested for going to church
Sex offender charged after attending church with child care facility. Law being challenged.
By Jesse James DeConto

Nichols has lived in a tent near Sanford for nearly three months. He and his fiancee are expecting a baby.

James Nichols said he was flabbergasted when a Chatham County sheriff's deputy arrested him in March for a simple weekly activity: going to church.

Nichols, 31, had served six years in prison for indecent liberties with a teenage girl and attempted second-degree rape. He was released last September and started attending Moncure Baptist Church. He met with the pastor, disclosed his crimes and often sat in the front row for worship.

But after the Chatham sheriff's office investigated an alleged sexual assault by another person in the church parking lot in March, Nichols was arrested because he was attending the church, which has a child care facility on its premises.

“Anyone in this world has a right to practice their religion, and whether they've made any mistake in their life, they should have the right,” Nichols said.

But a state law that took effect in December forbids registered sex offenders from being within 300 feet of a school, playground, day care or children's museum.

“The law we passed doesn't let them go to church, because there are nurseries in churches,” said state Rep. Verla Insko, D-Chapel Hill, the only legislator in the House and Senate to oppose the law.

Nichols, with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union, is challenging the law in Chatham County. A coalition of social workers and psychologists who treat sex abusers have been fighting it in the legislature. Some think churches should play a role in rehabilitating offenders.

Proponents, though, want to keep sexual offenders away from children at all costs, even after they've finished their prison time.

Pope to G8: ...

Pope to G8: Against the crisis, invest in human beings and listen to poor countries
In a letter to President Berlusconi, Benedict XVI addresses an appeal to the leaders of the G8 and suggestions to overcome the crisis by investing on education, development aid, debt cancellation. The need to convert development models with ethical values and solidarity. The G8 should be closer to the UN, where the voice of the poor carries equal weight to that of the rich.

Vatican City (AsiaNews) - The solution to the global economic crisis lies in "investing in human beings"; maintaining and even " increasing development aid" to poor countries; ensuring an "ethical value" to technical solutions; listening not only to rich countries with major economic success, but also to those "less developed". This is Benedict XVI’s invitation to the Heads of Government who are to gather in l'Aquila from July 8th to 10th next, in a letter sent to the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Swine Flu, a Hoax???

Swine flu panic an absurd falsehood

DailyRecord.com DANIEL ALBANESE • August 16, 2009

The U.S. government has bought 195 million doses of swine flu vaccine. In tough economic times where almost one out of 10 Americans are jobless, it begs to ask; why?

As of July 24, which is the last day Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will report specific numbers on swine flu cases and deaths, 302 people have been killed due to the swine flu pandemic out of 43,771 total cases in America. Food for thought: on average, the regular seasonal flu kills 36,000 people per year in the U.S. and between 250,000 and 500,000 people worldwide.

Swine Flu Vaccine Side Effect...CANCER???

German health expert's swine flu warning Does virus vaccine increase the risk of cancer?
07.08.2009 - 15:29 UHR Bild.com

The swine flu vaccine has been hit by new cancer fears after a German health expert gave a shock warning about its safety.

Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg is a politician and a specialist in lungs, hygiene and environmental medicine. He is the chairman of the health committee in the German parliament and European Council.

Lung specialist Wolfgang Wodarg has said that there are many risks associated with the vaccine for the H1N1 virus.

He has grave reservations about the firm Novartis who are developing the vaccine and testing it in Germany. The vaccination is injected “with a very hot needle”, Wodarg said.

The nutrient solution for the vaccine consists of cancerous cells from animals and "we do not know if there could be an allergic reaction".

But more importantly, some people fear that the risk of cancer could be increased by injecting the cells.

The vaccine - as Johannes Löwer, president of the Paul Ehrlich Institute, has pointed out - can also cause worse side effects than the actual swine flu virus.

Wodrag also described people’s fear of the pandemic as an "orchestration": “It is great business for the pharmaceutical industry,” he told the ‘Neuen Presse’.

Swine flu is not very different from normal flu. “On the contrary if you look at the number of cases it is nothing compared to a normal flu outbreak,” he added.

The chairman of the health committee in the European Council has urged for a careful and calm reaction to the virus.

Up until now, the producers of the vaccine did not know how many orders they would have by the autumn, but the German Government is now a guaranteed customer.
